Mark Bergman, Double Bass

Dr. Mark Elliot Bergman is the Director of Strings and Orchestral Studies at Sheridan College. He also directs the professional ensemble Wyoming Baroque, with whom he released three compact discs (The Golem in 2023, Mozart’s Cimador in 2022 and Acoustic Shades in 2020). Mark is the Assistant Principal Double Bassist with the Billings (MT) Symphony Orchestra, a section member of the Peter Britt Festival Orchestra (Jacksonville, OR), and solo bassist with Assisi Performing Arts in Assisi, Italy.

In 2023, Mark won the International Society of Bassists’ Grand Prize in Research for his contributions to double bass pedagogy. In 2018, he received the Performing Arts Fellowship from the Wyoming Arts Council, recognizing his state-wide contributions as a composer and performer. Mark earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Yale University, and George Mason University.
